http://www.miss-design.com/interior/outdoor-style.html

This is a website which I have can across and it is similar to a blog however offers more things in different sections. I like the piece they have on outdoor areas and they will come in useful for my current project at college as I am designing a roof terrace and I like the ideas that these images have.

Clever Business Cards

http://bestdesignmag.com/inspiration/20-stunning-and-amazing-designs-of-personal-business-cards/

During the course of my final year for my foundation degree I should be looking into business cards. I have come across a website (above) which displays some brilliant examples of the most creative business cards.

Extreme Sidewalk Chalk

These are incredible street art pieces which have created an illusion. The drawings are made using different coloured chalk and they are drawn on streets and roads. There are many different designs which are all intricate and create a bold bright design.

Samsung Galaxy Beam Smartphone

As the world is advancing technologically so much you would think that smartphones would have hit their peak, with apps, camera quality and LCD touch screen features. However it seems Samsung have out done themselves once again and have created a smartphone that has a projector in the top of the phone.

When looking down holding the phone in the palm of the hand, the projected image is shot out of the lens onto a nearby wall (sort of like holding a flashlight). If the phone is held upright, the image is projected onto the ceiling. It’s the first mainstream phone to offer everyday customers in-phone projection.

The phone still has a LCD screen, a 8GB of memory and a 5MP camera so will be a high competitor on the smartphone market.

Suitcase Chair

I've came across this suitcase chair which I think looks really effective! I've never seen such an item before and I think it works really well!

This awesome chair is made from a recycled suitcase and is a Part of an extraordinary range of furniture designed by green enthusiast Katie Thomspon. The suitcase chair is made from an old Samsonite suitcase, a steel reinforced internal structure, upholstered linen and turned timber legs. A beautiful and interesting design, Thompson’s chair lets you travel the world even while sitting at home.

Human Painted Sculptures...

These paintings/sculptures are breath-taking, they are both beautifully painted and slighlty confusing to how they work. Gesine Marwedel has transformed live models into human canvases. The skill involved in the painting is so precise and her work is very unique.

Art imitating life: A model painted and posed to resemble a flamingo demonstrates Gesine's unusual technique  Fluorescent finish: This model was covered from head to toe in a swirling, abstract pattern  Landscape with nude: This model's body was used to depict a frozen nocturnal scene  Bird of a feather: This model is transformed into a swan taking flight  Model landscape: Gesine uses special paints that don't harm the human skin

The Chromatic Typewriter

The Chromatic Typewriter typewriters art

A typewriter has been modified so that instead of letters they are coloured pas which paint an image when  pressed. The typewriter was created by Tyree Callahan, a Washington based painter and his creativity has been entered into the 2012 West Prize competition which is an annual art prize determined by popularity.

Although the piece may not be easy to use or very practical I think it is a very clever idea that could generate wonderful results.

Painting with Sound...

Photographer Martin Klimas has been incredibly creative with his new project, Painting with Sound. Klimas places paint on top of a speaker and sets the volume to the highest level and the vibrations of the speaker shoot the paint into the air creating beautiful patterns and sculptural forms, and Klimas snaps them with his camera while in flight.

The Luxury Dhigu Resort, Maldives

This is a beautiful resort which i have found whilst browsing the internet. The hotel is very modern and the interiors are simplistic yet especially feminine. The style works very well and compliments the beautiful surroundings; that is the Maldives.

I like the natural wood and tones of colour which have been used throughout as I think these reflect the natural surroundings of the area, such as the turquoise blues reflect the tranquil seas and the warm corals represent the hot weather.

Hexham Cafe - Bee in the Butterfly

I have recently taken part in a placement through Newcastle College which has enabled me to contribute in the interior design of a Cafe in Hexham which has had to relocate. The premises which we were given to design was very challenging, there was zero budget as the client wanted no or hardly any money to be spent. The area was very small and had very little natural light. The Clients personality to me reflected very cultural and she enjoyed travelling so i decided to incorporate this into my design.

The images above are renders of the Cafe which I made in Sketchup. Overall, even though the design which I created was not chosen I feel it was successful as there would be very little money spent and the touches could be added by the Client making it very unique and special to her.
